I am so fucking sick of the news media. They provided 8 minutes of uniterrupted coverage on the recent terrorist attacks; 30 seconds on what happened and 7 1/2 minutes on the state of security here. Fuck you. Can we stop with the fear-mongering for once? Or maybe just report on what happened instead of wasting all that time on shit you talk about every time something happens; it's not even news at this point! I don't give a fuck about security here. It's not the first thing I think of when something happens elsewhere. I'm so fucking sick of the news.

Don't get me started on their fake-drama for this election. They're a big reason Trump is doing so well.

Same. I was with my little girl at her pediatrician's and they had their TV tuned to the freaking news instead of Spongebob or some shit. She kept clinging to my arm and asking if we were gonna get killed too.

I hate how all the jerks come out whenever something like this happens. I actually had a coworker share news links about the attack on my Facebook page and start ranting at me about how being kind to people and welcoming refugees fleeing from war (things I've talked about before) was what caused these attacks and we should kick all those people out of our country. I had to unfriend and block him.

I didn't, but another parent there with his kid got up and asked the channel to be changed. The receptionist got snippy with him, but then he said that his son was getting scared and he was sure his kid wasn't the only one, so the receptionist put it on the Disney channel.

I'm with you on all these points. the fucking media fucking made Trump what he is and now I'm scared to death he's going to succeed. and never not fucking sick of the immediate "but how does this impact America?" reaction. ever notice that disasters/tragedies/attack get much less coverage when no Americans have been killed, hurt, or were even in the location to give a reaction Skype call to the media?

... how is that "fear-mongering"? If anything, talking about the security here is a way to make people feel LESS afraid because then they can see that there are things being done to help protect them. Humans are nervous creatures. It's only natural for them to worry that something like that might happen where they are too.
