What characters do you think are overrated? In this sense, I mean, are not actually as complex, interesting, or ground-breaking as fandom (or even mainstream media) give them credit for. If they are fairly objectively interesting or well-developed, they don't count.

*cough* a lot of the MCU *cough*

complicated by the fact that fans are always going to look to the comics and history but in a vacuum those characters are kinda overrated

-Katniss Everdeen. I get that she's "groundbreaking" in the sense that she's mainstream and a strong female character (literally speaking). And I appreciate her, I really do. I just don't think she is actually interesting beyond the first book. The cold, survivalist gig was interesting in book 1, but by the second and third book, she was just unlikable and predictably disagreeable.

-Sirius Black. I don't get why he's so popular, I honestly do not. His death was more of a "lol see how much Harry's life sucks, he will never have a ~family~" rather than anything else.

Jason Bourne.

Everyone in Game of Thrones.

I think Harry Potter is the most boring protagonist ever.

Naruto, Goku, Ichigo . . . a bunch of other shonen protagonists whose names escape me right now . . .

Felicity Smoak from Arrow.

I genuinely have no idea why that character gained so much popularity that they had to have her take over the show and (SPOILER ALERT) now they're going to kill off Dinah Laurel Lance/Black Canary to give her more screentime. The character is not something new or unique, the actress is not good at all, and as much as I hate the term, she is the definition of a Mary Sue. I just don't get it at all.

About your spoiler: Nooooooooooo!! Do not want! I'm really loving Laurel this season.

Felicity lost me last year, when she was crying every scene and going "But what about Oliver?!" (Whoever the fuck that was in "The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak" was not Felicity and that doppelganger has existed on Arrow ever since.) She's been slightly more tolerable this season, but the last episode where she literally got up out of her wheelchair and walked out on Oliver was hilarious. Seriously, writers? Seriously??

Fuck you for that shittily given spoiler alert. You've got to give people a little bit of chance to look away.

Bargain Brand Barbra Gordon

Pick a Whedon character, any Whedon character.

Fucking Cullen Rutherford. Get off my dashboard, you. I was ambivalent towards him at first but seeing him three hundred times a day has made me irrationally loathe him.

Aragorn. I like him, but he isn't the most amazing character ever.

The Tenth Doctor. He's my least favorite of the New Who Doctors. I do like him, but he's really overrated.

Draco Malfoy and Severus Snape.

Loki.

the 11th Doctor is the one I really dislike. I stopped watching Dr. Who completely because of him, and I know he's gone now but I still feel too burned by how irritating he was to give the show another chance.
