Broody emo boy with self-control and daddy issues who thinks he has a "cause," but has a limited understanding of what he's actually fighting for? We're not exactly breaking new ground here. Kylo is basically Zuko if you take away most of what made Zuko complex. He's Draco Malfoy in the last half of the Harry Potter series. He's Superboy-Prime. He's at least a third of the Marvel Universe. Hell, he's Rule 63 Mara Jade.

Whether or not a cliche character is interesting comes down a least partially on the actor that plays him. If the actor doesn't do anything to elevate the material, then that has everything to do with the actor.
Why can't you understand that people have different tastes in what they find interesting?
