Nope! I just didn't really start analyzing canons until I started to in fandom.

Yeup, this. I slowly started quitting a lot of shows I used to watch because I got sick of the same horrible writing we're expected to go crazy over. I'm willing to put up with bad writing to an extent if I otherwise love the characters, but now shows quickly reach a point where I can't stand it anymore and give up.

I see!

I misunderstood your secret completely, and I blame my fandoms for that since all complains about the canon tend to be tied to the idea of fandom being better because it's more likely to go the way they want them to go (not just ship wise!).

But... yeah, analyzing canons is a sure path to disappointment. Most are just not that good and the writing is all over the place. Usually the only thing the audience can expect is for something fun to pass the time, but nothing else :/

I don't know if this is a comfort, but plenty of people analyze works without actually being in fandom. See, for example, Literature.
So it could have happened anyway.

Yeah, that seems likely for me now that I think about it. :)

So now you can go back to enjoying fandom!
