I know that some people do take WMGs seriously, but I'd just like to point out that WMGs are supposed to be a joke.

+1000

There are some I like to consider seriously occasionally, but for the most part, those kinds of alternate interpretations and ridiculous, off-the-wall theories are fun to think about & discuss.

WMGs?

I'm still skeptical that "overthinking" is a thing. Silly thinking, certainly.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
A suicide note?? How so? Does anyone have the link to that?

The title's been changed though. It's total clickbait.

Topic aside, I don't get why they published an article about Frozen now, especially about a topic that's been discussed to death. It wasn't anything new in any way.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Frozen is weird, though. A lot of Disney movies are hot for about a year and then start to fade into the background. Frozen seems to have rooted itself much more firmly in the minds of the children. At least the children I am most likely to interact with.

"Ignorance is bliss" is underrated in terms of entertainment media.

Why can't we just enjoy shit for what it is?

Bruh, the grimdark shit on TVTropes has nothing to do with mental illness and everything to do with adults trying way too hard to validate their deep obsession with children's media. Cracked's articles like that are more of the same.

EVERYTHING IS ABOUT SEX

EVERYTHING IS ABOUT DRUGS

EVERYTHING IS ABOUT SUICIDE

IT'S NOT FOR KIDS OKAY MOM????

Makes a good headline, though, and that's literally all that Cracked cares about.

(sometimes this is a good thing, sometimes it's very much not)

[personal profile] thezmage 2016-03-26 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, they've done a lot more articles that reached a lot farther than that. I recall one that criticized Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon for keeping Toothless a secret, for one.

Admit it OP you're just playing clickbait on us, right?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Omg I read this Cracked article too and at the end of it I was rolling my eyes. Strongly.

I mean there's overanalyzing things (for fun) and there is forcefully shoehorning nonsense into a canon.

Well, Pokemon has a lot of unintentional (and some intentional) Fridge Horror/Nightmare Fuel, so...sorry, disagree with you there.

But that about Frozen? Wat.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. As a chronically depressed person, that article reads like the biggest slap in the face since the last time someone said I should cheer up.

[personal profile] sachiko_san 2016-03-27 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, well, what do you expect for a site that is siding with the SJWs, claiming they aren't so bad, and when Gamergate was still relevant, sided with Anita "Ban Everyone that Disagrees with Me" Sarkeesian (and still does, despite everyone knowing she's a scammer).

It's a cracked article. That's all I need to know to realise the most interesting part of it is the title.

I like my grim dark over the top out of the left field interpretations but I just know their article will be a shallow "okay". :c

(Anonymous) 2016-03-27 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Fucking TVTropes.

[personal profile] mrs_don_draper 2016-03-27 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I've always listened to it and thought of my own personal battle with depression, so this doesn't seem so far-fetched to me.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-27 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
I think the song is pretty depressing anyway, at least contextually. I mean, sure she's "letting go" and "being herself," but the only way she's able to do that is by isolating herself in her ice palace, so it's not really all that inspiring or empowering.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-27 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
While I wouldn't have called it a suicide note, it still made me cry the first time I saw that movie.

An earnest, conscientious person decides that the only way she can be happy is to take herself away from everyone she's ever loved: that ain't a happy song.
