And that's why men get to flood the media with their shit, and media having the pervasive impact it does on the world, this is also the reason women are a second class citizens in our culture. Because you and people like you would rather be entertained than do something to make the world better. I mean, it's not like watching one dreadfully unentertaining show is all that much work. It's not like it take away your "Entertaining" media. How about you support a woman in media AND watch your dumb entertaining garbage?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you stopped to consider there might be a number of women who like "men's shit," too?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. I don't see the point you're making, though.

Those women liking mens shit is fine, but it is giving yet more power to men in media and therefore men in society. You can like mens media, but you should still support womens media.

only if it's good

i'm not supporting shit entertainment because i should have some sort of moral obligation

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm curious. Do people typically respond well to you when you tell them they *should* do something?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
nayrt

Of course not, but that's not this anon's aim. Radfem is here specifically to make feminism and feminists look bad. They frequently post hyperbolic ranty things that lack common sense.

IDK. The one on the JJ thread yesterday was clearly a troll. But I think we have several radfem anons, and the one above appears to be genuinely clueless.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-27 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
the only people who think the radfem trolls are "genuine" are morons

(Anonymous) 2016-03-27 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, a few are probably trolls, but it's just as moronic and naive to believe that oh! They are all trolls! No feminist actually has these views! Feminism is pure and flawless and people who say otherwise are all arguing strawmen!!

(Anonymous) 2016-03-27 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
DA Sometimes the troll attempts to invoke Poe's Law on feminism fail pretty miserably however, and it's easy to spot em. 4chan campaigns to pretend to be some freaky feminist extremist movement, for instance, are usually pretty laughable to anyone acquainted with actual radical feminists.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-27 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
They get harder and harder to spot though. Considering I've seen some serious radfems that went even more OTT than 4chan trolls who try to emulate them.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Have a cup of chamomile tea, radfem anon. And if by chance you're not radfem, keep in mind that watching TV in and of itself is not actually activism. You could watch exploitative rapefests 24/7, but if that's all you're doing, i.e. your viewing habits aren't being monitored by the networks, you're not buying merchandise, DVD boxsets, etc. then the effect you will have on what media is made will be zero.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Unless everyone here has a Nielsen box, watching or not watching a TV show isn't going to make a lick of difference.

But you have fun with your slacktivism, pretending you're doing something by sitting in front of a screen.
