I just didn't get the whole "it is a competition and whoever is canon wins" thing. I was happy shipping what I wanted to in fanon and I was okay with canon being whatever she wanted to write. It is her books. But I don't think that being canon is the holy grail. I'm just fine fanon shipping.

Honestly, while I miss being active in a big fandom, I don't really miss that fandom at all. By the end I was just so sick of it all.

AYRT - I miss the HP fandom, but I think I miss the "big fandom" aspects of it (and the friendships I made from it.) Looking back there was a helluva lot of needless, pointless drama. Not to mention a lot of toxic internet friendships, for all the great ones.

Exactly. I miss the big fandom. But on the other hand, my current small fandom is welcoming and friendly and only has a little bit of occasional drama. I love it.

I don't get the whole "OMG SHIP MUST BECOME CANON" focus that so many fen (in so many fandoms) have.

Maybe it's because I was a slasher back when there were literally ZERO LGBT characters in genre movies and TV, but I ship what I'm gonna ship with zero fucks given about whether or not a ship is canon.

Haha, yeah I don't understand why people treat shipping like a competitive sport.
