this isn't really similar to your situation but it still reminds me of it. I'm so irritated with the pathologist I've lately been working with almost every day because he acts like I am his secretary. He's not my boss, we actually answer to the same person, and my primary responsibilities have little or nothing to do with him, but he acts like I am at his beck and call to drop everything to do random tasks for him, including sending emails and making phone calls (which I will note that every single other pathologist I've worked with does for themselves with no fuss).

Oh no, it's similar in that it really sucks whenever someone treats you in such a way that you feel like you've been underestimated and thus dismissed.

I wouldn't call them whims. He's not doing it specifically to bug me. He genuinely seems to think my primary job is to be at his beck and call.

I have to pick my battles. He's normally very polite but he gets irrationally angry when he doesn't get his way.
