I don't know Supernatural, so I can't comment on Sam, but the bad ends of Constantine's circle aren't restricted to his lovers, and his lovers don't invariably die. (Actually, as of the current point in the comic continuity, I think his lovers have a better survival rate than his platonic friends and vaguely adversarial acquaintances.)
