I can't find the exact quote, but Vox Day once posted that the first thing you need to know when arguing with him is he's a genius, so while he may not be right, if you disagree with him you're definitely wrong. I think that's the direct, undisguised form of what a lot of "pretentious" statements keep to undercurrent and implication.

I'm impressed, Vox Day actually made me laugh.

I mean, he wasn't trying to be funny, but I definitely laughed.

I'm so bothered by the fact that that statement is not logically consistent.

That's all right. Vox Day is not logically consistent. http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Vox_Day

Holy crap, I didn't know he was an anti-vaxxer, too.

He's basically just a garden variety conspiracy theorist, isn't he? Except he's somehow amassed a following capable of influencing SFF.

...which suddenly makes me side-eye my fellow readers of SFF.

I saw some calculations after the Hugo Awards that concluded his "loyal followers" only consisted of a few hundred voters. He's just really loud and persistent.

As one winner last year put it, Vox Day managed to game the nomination process, and still end up the biggest loser of the evening. But as Scalzi pointed out, this is a guy who could get run over by a subway train and call it a victory condition.

But this year, the Sads's open recommendation process evidently means they're endorsing Okorafor's Binti, a feminist and afrofuturist novella published by Tor.com. (And a Scalzi story.) And the Rabids's are endorsing gay dinosaur porn, so irony is dead this year, (undead undead undead).

If he's an anti-vaxxer, I'm an anti-Voxxer.

(I'll show myself out)
