Re: Rare Pairings

Rare pairs are my jam.

Sokka/Piandao - I really like seeing how people without bending can hold their own, and I really liked the respect Sokka earns from Piandao. Also, I have a mentor/mentee kink. I wish there was more fic for these two.

Elinor Dashwood/Colonel Brandon - They're temperaments seem to match better than Brandon and Marianne's. I didn't mind Elinor/Edward, but I just felt like these two would've ended up being happier together.

Sisko/Bashir - I just liked how they interacted together on screen. Plus, they were my favorite characters. (Same for Dresden/Morgan from the TV series). I only found one fic for them though.

Hotch/Anderson - Plays into my power imbalance kink. Hotch is my favorite character, and Anderson is fun. I just like when they interact.

Hm. Hotch/Anderson has me a bit intrigued. There should be more stories about Anderson in general, either in terms of shipping or just involving his character in general situations.

On the note of that show, I sometimes like looking up stories involving Elle being paired with another team member. Particularly Reid or Morgan-she always had an entertaining chemistry with Morgan and I could've seen them having an interesting relationship, and her dynamic with Reid always really intrigued me. I think they were a good "opposites attract" sort of possibility in some ways.

(Don't know which female team member I could see her with if we wanted to go the femslash route, but if there's good stories of that sort with her, I'd check them out, too.)

Sadly, the fact she's been gone so long from the show makes it hard to find a lot of fics involving her being paired with another team member, but it's nice when I do come across them.

I don't actually read much Criminal Minds fic. Back when I did, I saw JJ/Elle. I liked Elle but her last episode left a bad taste in my mouth. I didn't like how they wrote her out like that, and I was always happy for fic that ignored it.

I did like her dynamics with the rest of the team. I wish there were more fics that remembered her. She does seem to have been swept under the rug a bit. But, again, I think her exit might've had something to do with that.

I actually shipped Elinor/Brandon in the 1995 adaptation with Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman, which wasn't something I'd expected going into the movie. Since then I've been thinking about them in general as well. They do suit each other better.

Yeah, I think I started shipping them with that movie too. You can tell they're good friends in real life. They have great chemistry, and he has more scenes with her than Marianne (at least it feels like that - more meaty scenes at least). Added to the fact that the characters themselves seem like a good match, and they're definitely the ones I ended up shipping.
