Re: Pairing Thread
(Anonymous) 2016-03-29 12:26 am (UTC)(link)Re: Pairing Thread
I think he and Sam could have a REALLY AMAZING BROMANCE and I could get VERY EMOTIONAL ABOUT IT, but Steve and Sam's dynamic in TWS is just......ACK. Steve clearly likes and trusts Sam a LOT and IMMEDIATELY--he follows the guy to work and admits to him that he doesn't know what makes him happy--he says it lightly but that's a really upsetting, personal thing to say to someone. But he and Sam have that dynamic so quickly. They're just drawn to one another.
AND THEN SAM WAITS BY THE HOSPITAL BED.
I love Sam/Steve Entirely Too Much, not quite at Bucky's expense, but in such a way I can't see him fitting in to an OT3--not least because two people with so much history (Bucky and Steve) and one who just arrived and only has a small history with one of them (Sam) would be kinda weird?
Re: Pairing Thread
(Anonymous) 2016-03-29 01:10 am (UTC)(link)I do think, even if it is only Steve/Sam that Bucky is going to be a huge part of their lives. What I like best is that Sam seems to understand what Bucky means to Steve and is supportive of that. That was what made Steve/Sam a thing I could see. On the phone call in the trailer, Natasha urges Steve to give up on Bucky, and I just don't think Sam would ever do that. (If he does, I'll be disappointed.) He knows that Steve's just not someone who could give up on his friend; he wouldn't be the guy Sam likes in that case. Sam won't ask him that and I love that about Sam.
(And my personal take on Sam/Steve/Bucky is that Steve and Bucky are so messed up that they need someone like Sam to find balance. Sam is confident in himself. He wouldn't let either take him from granted so he would make sure his own needs are being taken care of. I think he's one of the few people who's strong enough and emotionally balanced enough to be able to handle their drama and help them find peace. I actually find Sam/Steve/Bucky more plausible as a healthy relationship than Bucky/Steve. Just personally.)
Re: Pairing Thread
(I don't ship Steve/Bucky really--only as a one-sided thing with younger Steve--but I absolutely agree re: Sam/Steve/Bucky being potentially much healthier than those two on their own.)
