Wow, I haven't read the novel, but I enjoyed the movie a lot. Perhaps it'd change my opinion about it.

Haven't seen the movie, but in theory I can see how a decent script and good acting can wrangle an enjoyable film out of this premise, which I was initially drawn to. And philosophical pontification is much easier to avoid when you don't have pages of narration to get through.
