I hate when that happens to me. That's why I avoid any personal information of people I admire like the plague. I don't want my mental image of them tarnished.

Me too. I don't really get celebrity gossip tbh. I just want to enjoy actors for their professional skills D:

Holy shit he's dead?

Yeah, my childhood self is sad to hear this, but my more developed adult self is kinda overjoyed. He was evil, even if he was the reason young me got into magic.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-29 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Incurable brain tumour. :(

(Anonymous) 2016-03-29 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
When did it happen? Also I don't know if I'm happy or sad about it. Sad because of what I personally lost, but happy because of what the world collectively lost. I suppose it's kinda selfish, but I think I'm more sad than happy.

Less than two weeks ago, March 17.

Judgy OP is judgy... I'd give him a pass if he wasn't outright racist. I fear to think what liberal young folk will think about me 70 years from now.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-29 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Why? It's normal for things to change, and for some people to not change with the times. It's also normal to look back at what people did and thought generations before and think, "Nah."

[personal profile] solticisekf 2016-03-29 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the point. I mean I agree with you, what's going in this thread, haha?
We're more and more open minded as ages go by. I might become that one grandma that is anti-android or something.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-30 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps I misunderstood. You called OP "judgy" for doing something that you agree is normal. The secret reads to me that they're disappointed, which is hardly the same thing.

[personal profile] solticisekf 2016-03-30 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe. OP sounded a bit judgy to me, and comparing a few offbeat remarks to a rapist seems over the top. Idk. I guess OP just wanted to talk about what they found out and that's why they made the secret. So I shouldn't judge OP for judging.

There's a difference between thinking "nah" and villifying someone outright. (No horse in this particular race, I've never heard of the guy, but...y'know. nuance and all that)

(Anonymous) 2016-03-30 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Well, nobody here is vilifying Paul Daniels, though? Being disappointed to find out that somebody you thought well of maybe isn't as nice as you assumed is hardly vilifying.

Just because someone's views aren't your views (or the prevailing Tumblr views) doesn't mean they aren't smart. Pretty damn judgy young one.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-30 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
It isn't just tumblr who believes that climate change is real. I think at this point if you're going to go against a consensus of the world's reputable scientists and say that climate change isn't really happening, I for one would question your intelligence.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-30 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Climate change is just one of the items mentioned. Which is real as far as I can tell. It's just that people can be intelligent and have different views on a variety of things.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-30 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
nayrt I... suppose it's possible to believe that homeless people are just lazy and believe racist things and still be smart, but it depends on how you define "smart".

[personal profile] solticisekf 2016-03-30 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It's "slightly racist" in the secret, not racist. Everybody's slightly racist.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-30 10:49 am (UTC)(link)
you're not intelligent if you don't believe in man-made climate change, sorry.

[personal profile] solticisekf 2016-03-30 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
even scientists don't all agree that it's a man made change. Some think that it's a phase that follows a cold period that we had. Scientists!
