This was my question, but I'm always surprised to find what media generates surprisingly devout pocket fandoms. Plus if a writer is fandom-savvy enough to speculate on fic potential, they're probably going to write the kind of book that might, at least, generate some fic. That said, book fandoms besides Tolkien and Harry Potter tend to be really tiny or fic-less if they exist at all.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too... There are some nice book fandoms but aside from a handful of big ones like Harry Potter and LOTR, they tend to be fairly small and, well... barely alive in some cases. A self published novel would have to make it pretty damn big to garner enough attention to generate a significant amount of fanfic.

I agree, but who knows--maybe it gets scooped up and adapted into a CW series, lol
