That's kind of like saying that people (male or female) that hide their gender online in order to be accepted into one area of the internet are part of the problem. Obviously, I'm not talking about the predators that pose as teenage girls/boys -- more like the girls that pass as guys to be accepted into gaming circles or the guys that pose as girls to write femslash. Sometimes, it's really, really hard to come right out and say it because you'll be basically kicked out of the group, and while then there's the whole idea of "well then find a different group, duh," that's not as easy as it sounds. Especially when you're close friends with the people in that group.

That's because they are! I am a girl gamer. I am a girl journaler. I am a girl 4chan'er. If people do not present themselves as the gender they are they are only helping the persisting myth. It helps no one, and harms even more.

Additionally, when I was a practicing Catholic, I was often on Pagan forums (or any other types) and would state that I was so, if the subject came up.

Again, "please grow a backbone". I know not everybody has the courage inside to do like I do, but some day these kinds of people will have to face up to the fact that they are only playing a mask.
