How multicultural is your family

Take the question to be as narrow or broad as you want!

Which yardstick are we measuring against? A Mark Reads reading of multicultural (multicultural is so problematic, it is just appropriation and smothering!!!), the level of multiculturalism of when my parents and grandparents spent their formative years, I mean come on give us a starting point?

Well... we're not the majority race in our nation, so we're 100% "multicultural" by default.

If you mean multiracial, not much. We're mostly white with a bit of Native American thrown in there.

If you mean well-travelled/have lived for substantial periods as racial minorities in other countries and cultures, then very much so.

Not very? We're white as newly fallen snow upon an polar bear's fur. My mom is German and Scottish with some Hungarian and Irish/British, my dad is Irish and Scottish with some British and I guess a dash of French (I doubt it, but I have an aunt who likes to insist). Most of our interesting cultural things come from my mom, being a midwestern pastor's kid, and my dad, being the middle son of a wool-trading New Englander proto-WASP.

Like I said. White as newly fallen snow on an albino polar bear's fur immediately after it was bleached.

One half Catholic immigrant white, one half WASP-y New England white.

Racially? Not very. We are made of various white countries (mostly German, Scottish, and Irish). Unsurprisingly, the first of my family to come to the US owned a bar.

In regards to culture, a bit more diverse because of the environment we grew up in.

Combination of various white anglo/northern European with the requisite inoffensive well traveled, city middleclass background to be honest.

Got a few Guatemalan cousins.

Uh, my brothers been dating a girl from Zambia for a while I guess, and I've got an on again off again thing with a Hongkongese woman. So in the future possibly much more.

My immediate family, not very at all. We're very white and I grew up in a white rural era doing white rural things with white rural people. My father's side of the family is very much in that vein, but my mother's side a little less so, and parts of that side of the family are Mexican and Navajo in addition to good old fashioned pasty Scotch-Irish.

My parents and their families moved to America from Southeast Asia after the Vietnam war. So you know, Asian American family.

Racially we're a little mixed. Cuturally we're all over the world. Literally. All across the British Isles, a couple scattered about Europe, and a bunch in America. Our parents moved to America to be closer to us kids but now only one kid is still in America and the rest of us are either back home or at least close by. Christmas was a riot because of our mixed accents and idioms. It was the first time we'd all been together in 20 years or so.

My mother is Indian Hindu and my dad German Catholic.

My immediate family not so much - just different varieties of European mixed together and a long history in the US, so we have no connection to any European cultures. Although, before I was born my parents lived in other countries and parts of the US where white people are minorities and that were culturally different from where they grew up. It comes about a bit in some terminology/slang they use. My extended family on my mother's side more so, since one of my aunts and two of my cousins married people who are Latino or part Asian.

I have no idea because there have been lots of mystery dads and secret ethnicities and alcoholism and flat out lying on my paternal grandmother's side and with my mother's whole family. Which is why I always take matters of genealogy with a grain of salt, I guess, lol. The non-soap opera portion of the family, my grandfather's people, came from England and Ireland, at least. I really want to have my DNA tested and see what's up.

Not very. I have a few relatives who are biracial but that's about it, and the most well-traveled of us is my hippie-dippy aunt who's all into this New Age Crystal Dragon Jesus bullshit. She's like a sitcom stock character.

Half white, and a quarter each Native American and Mexican, but I don't really feel ties to my nonwhite roots aside from generally liking the food and supporting immigrant/Native rights.

Including extended family by marriage: Chinese, Indian, Caucasian (mixed German, Irish, Scots, a little bit of Cherokee ancestry), Latino. If one includes honorary family who are technically neither biologically related nor relatives by marriage, add: Vietnamese, Filipino.

Yes? I mean, this is a confusing question. But my family is a mix of different ethnicities and we all bring our own culture in, so relatively cultural?

Well we got a lot of the Southwestern New Mexico culture that my dad grew up in. My Dad puts green chile on everything and we always have them on hand. We can make some burn-your-tastebuds-off spicy barbecue and chili.
But other than that I'd say we're white as fuck.
