Anon is the only way to go. The comm should really be switched to anon only and no IP tracking. Then we'd really get people's truly honest opinions.

That's sort of a sad way to think. That people would only be honest when given anonymity.

I know it looks ironic that I'm replying anon, but I can tell you truthfully there are "truly honest opinions" I wouldn't share anon either, so it's not even true that you'd get honesty.

I'm... not? Though thanks, that demonstrates one more reason against going anon that the original poster didn't think about. It's impossible to tell who is who whether you're honest or not.

if we deleted named users then the accusation of self reply would die off anyway without named user privilege behind it

...like I said below, I don't see these accusations getting any less if everyone's anon. They'd get more common as a way to dismiss people.

that would become the normal and there would be no profit in trying to silence a thread by hauling out the accusation of self reply because there would be no alternative to accepting it

Self-replying would become normal? Yeah it probably would be with no way to prove it's not you.

The accusations wouldn't stop. You just accused me and we're both anon, aren't we? The problem doesn't go away, people assume it's true more often and ignore you more.
