I didn't ship them when I was first in the CSI fandom (when I was like 13) because I was squicked by the large age difference but I got super into it when I came back to the fandom several years later. They have an interesting dynamic

I think they might be responsible for my huge Age Kink (which I have like whoa). When I started, I read all the slash pairings. None of them really hit me like Gil/Greg did. It was too bad that it was so hard to find IC fic for Greg. Sadly, I think I might've contributed to that.

Still my favorite couple though.

I have a major age kink now too but I honestly can't remember what started it (I feel like it might be sourced back to Giles from Buffy though).

I know what you mean about the Greg fic though. People really liked to make that boy the biggest woobie to ever woobie. Admittedly, I was perfectly fine with that when I was 13 but now it kind of grates on me. It also bothered me that a lot of the slash fic back in the day had Sara bashing (even when I was younger I found it aggravating but eventually it became an instant back-button for me. It's fine to personally dislike Sara as a character but it doesn't make sense to have the actual characters treat her like she's an unbearable harpy)

But she is an unbearable harpy, so why wouldn't they treat her that way?

I had a similar experience. When I first got into fandom, I was down with character bashing and especially for Sara because she was "in the way" of Gil/Greg. I'm afraid I even wrote one of those. But now, even though I still don't much like her character, she is Greg's best friend and there's no reason to throw her under the bus (the show did a great job of that all on its own). I now also back button if I see her being treated like shit.

lol yeah, I have some...grievances with the show in regards to its treatment of certain characters (not just Sara, although she did get it pretty bad, you're right). I didn't bash Sara but, then again, I mostly shipped Nick/Greg back in the day (original, I know) so she wasn't really "in the way" of them like she would have been with Gil/Greg.
