I understand this feeling of anxiety and difficulty communicating except thru email, and then worrying about someone reading the email and having to respond. Or not responding and thinking you're horrible, etc. :(

I think some communication is better than none, and it really helps to find someone who is actually interested and kind enough to put up with low self-esteem and care about you and talk to you anyway.

Sometimes, talking to a person makes you feel really shitty about yourself (email, other ways, etc)., adn sometimes it's not you, even if you think it is.

So be really aware of who you're talking to and how they treat you. When you feel really bad about yourself, it's not always easy to notice that other people are making you feel worse because they're not as nice as they think they are or want you to think they are!

Genuinely kind people who love you are often far more willing to be reassuring and tell you once again that they don't mind hearing from you, hope things are improving, and that they always are rooting for you. The other folks? They'll sort of leave you hanging and make you feel like shit. Maybe not on purpose, but it still has an effect.
