I agree. There were a lot of similarities. And the same message: that people are complicated and make mistakes and do awful things and the assumptions we make about the past are not always true. But I think Potter got it better because Snape's adult behavior is never excused. Whereas Once seems to think that bad things happening to you mean you are absolved of awful things you do. As bad as Regina's arc has been, at least she's trying to be good. Cora never even tried and never apologized. Yet we're supposed to suddenly think she's good.

I'm pretty sure we're supposed to think Cora's an utterly shite human being.

One whose particular manner of being a horrible human being is influenced by her history and upbringing, but still an utter sociopath who slaughters people by the dozen and tries to con small children into committing cold blooded murder.
