Riiight. And I bet you think Anita Sarkeesian is a liar whore who doesn't even own a games console. Women gamers? What madness is this?

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-04 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
The only thing I know about Anita Sarkeesian is that people keep talking about her.

I think it's more telling that you automatically assume people in this thread are men, as though female gamers don't exist yourself.

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-04 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not assuming that gamers are all men, just that the people defending the games that brought us this character design are probably men. Boys at least:

And that's here normal costume, not some freaky fetish bonus costume

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-04 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
So a deeply questionable character design in one game invalidates a nearly 30-year-old series and we're all "boys" for saying the series is more than just Quiet. Okay.

So tell me, How many women am I missing from this list since the series started with polygons? Is this all of them?

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
You're missing something.

The point. That's what you're missing.

I don't even disagree with you that Quiet or really nearly all the female characters in this series are "problematic" or whatever 5 dollar word you want to use. (Funny thing is, nobody seemed to give a shit until Quiet, and now all of a sudden MGS is setting back feminism 30 years? BUllshit.) You're just flat-out ignoring everything else about the series and telling us that the series objectively has no worth when that simply isn't true.

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure you could drag some good points out of a song of the south of you look at it just right, that doesn't mean it's not a hateful piece of shit that should never have been made.

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's not exactly a Godwin but it's pretty darn close, so this conversation is over.

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. it's not a godwin. Nor is it even close. It's a valid point you cannot address. Your failure to argue your shitty point is why this conversation is over.

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
It's not a fucking valid point at all you rude, sanctimonious person.

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-04 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
The point I was making to begin with is one character doesn't make the rest of the series meaningless.

I'm not even disagreeing with you that Quiet is stupid and the reason for her outfit is stupid. It is. I simply don't think her existence erases the entire rest of the series or the issues it brings up or discusses.

If you're one of the people that thinks one problematic thing completely ruins everything forever though, there's no use in talking to you further so I'm bowing out. Have a good afternoon.

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
I like how radfem never actually responded to this.

If you're one of the people that thinks one problematic thing:

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Questionable portrayals of female characters" still counts as one problematic thing, dear.

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
So do you think that the racism is "Just one problematic thing" about Song of the south?

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
You're not even comparing apples and oranges here. You're comparing like, apples and crowbars. How do you expect to be taken seriously when you're literally comparing a series that discusses topics like nuclear warfare and deconstructs action movie tropes to a racist cartoon?

Come up with something less blatantly trolling please.

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-04 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
You jumped to that conclusion so fast you must've had a jetpack.

I don't care about Sarkeesian.

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-04 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Your comment to me was basically "A woman probably hasn't even played the game" which is an opinion held by the kind of "People" that call Anita a liar and spread the meme that she doesn't own a gaming system.

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-04 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't make that comment, sweetheart. You're talking to two anons here.

Also I don't like Glompergoofers at all but that you put "people" in parentheses really fucking bugs me because I don't condone treating someone as subhuman or inhuman which historically leads to bad things.

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Parentheses are these (), sweetheart, and if you're not the anon I was taking to why did you feel the need to clarify your feelings on Anita? I wasn't questioning your feelings on her?

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
You're the one who fucking brought her up!

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I brought up the opinions (about Anita) of someone who was not you.

(frozen comment) Re: Sort of inspired by #1

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
No, you made a ridiculous assumption that anyone who disagreed with you was a "boy" who thought Anita was "lying and didn't even own a console" -- i.e. you assumed that anyone who disagreed with you was a Gippleganger.

Fuck, I just realized: you're not interested in a discussion at all, are you?
