Re: is there something you avoid because it brings up bad memories for you?

Count of Montecristo. When I was reading the novel (shit took me 2 years to finish because I was dumb and bought YE OLDE ENGLISH edition) my dad kept asking me if he finally got his revenge. The day I finished the novel and after finishing the count's letter I was really overcome with this sorta sad or nostalgic feeling. And I mean like "holy shit I am so sad I'm gonna miss this sob sob" kind of feelings which was weird because I rarely cry. Anyway long story short, the next my dad had a heart attack, was taken to the hospital and passed away.

Now I can't look at my book (or my dad's books) without feeling sad. :(

Also bridesmaid dresses and boba tea but that has to do with bad memories about an ex-friend rather than sad ones.

Wow, this is going to sound really weird, but this morning I had a memory of some book (or maybe a short story) where the main character had a backstory that was exactly the same as yours. With The Count of Monte Cristo and a relative who kept asking if he got his revenge before dying. I've been trying all day to remember what book that happened in, but I guess it wasn't a book and I was actually remembering a comment you made about it here before. Either that or there really is a book where the MC's story matches yours exactly. Sorry if this is inappropriate, but either way, what a strange coincidence.

I do remember talking about this before but never really went into detail about it, so maybe from that?

And no worries, it's not inappropriate! Or at least I don't feel it inappropriate. Your comment did remind me of that short story about the monkey paw that spawned a bajillion stories regarding monkey paws, though. But the original had a family member dying.
