How the hell can a TV show ruin an ending so hard? The episode was so damn good. Even Morgan was becoming less annoying. The tension was ratcheted up so high that my hands were shaking from adrenaline.

Then Jeffrey Dean Morgan showed up. And he KILLED it as Negan. He was charming and terrifying at the same time. Also, he was hot (glad they let him keep a beard).

The whole scene as he chose was fantastic. And then...they don't show us who died. A completely fantastic episode wasted. TWD had their Red Wedding and they threw it away.

Yeah, I totally agree. I was pretty much on the verge of tears watching as everything played out, and... you don't know who dies. And they use that cheesy splatterhouse effect. Just, ugh.

That splatter effect was stupid last week and it was stupid this week. Who thought it would be a good idea? This isn't Sin City, get those comic effects out of here.

I fucking hate the splatter effect. who greenlit that shit?

On the Talking Dead after show one of the guests - a writer/director? I can't remember - said they didn't show who died because that was the end of this season's story. This season was about the build up to confronting Negan and realizing their own powerlessness and one of their members dying.

Next season will be the story of the loss of that character and how the group reacts and moves forward, so they won't reveal until next season's opener.

It sounds like a bad writing choice to me, but I prefer that they had a stylistic reason for doing it instead of purely going for shock factor.

I don't believe them (I think they are doing damage control from the rage of the ending). I think they just did it that way because they are too cowardly to kill a major character. I think they will come back from break and someone like Abraham will die. I hope I am wrong (and Daryl or Glenn die).

I call bullshit on that tbh

it was to garner ratings and fan speculation for season 7, nothing more

45 minutes of boring nothing happens (saviors blocking the road again and again and again...), 10 minutes of awesome Negan and then one of the worst endings I've seen in years.

Fuck this show and fuck AMC. The episode was terrible. And it's a shame because Negan and JDM were brilliant but everything else was awful.

I'm hoping without much hope that next season will see the end of amateurish mistakes being the driving cause of conflict and drama. For characters who are supposed to be badass veterans of the zombie apocalypse, there's been WAY too much "I think I'll run off into the woods toward danger alone. OMG I'm in trouble?!?" and the whole cast spilling into the woods after the idiot.

I'm looking forward to a more intelligent, tactical struggle against Negan from a group that's taken 'you don't know shit' to heart.

Don't hold your breath for any of that.

I really hope all the articles tearing this finale to shreds are seen by AMC execs and Gimple or whatever fuckwit decided to go with this cliffhanger ending is fired
