I don't think the secret maker is implying that at all.

Saying 'i got confused by their accent' doesn't mean you don't have one. there's just no point in referring to your own accent.

They said "with an accent" though, not "with a British accent", as though when the OP says ma'am they don't say it with an accent. I hope that's not how they meant it but it's how it reads and it's an attitude I've encountered before, with people vehemently denying having any accent.

I know you meant that the British have British accents, all I'm saying is some people seem unaware that they also have their own accents. Some people speak as if there's this binary where they don't have an accent and everyone else who sounds different does.

Yeah. Everyone knows that. But everyone also knows that most people can't hear their own accent or of prior with their own.
