I made the mistake of reading his autobiography that soured me on him a lot.

DA

He was fucking horrible as Twoflower, but I always assumed that was the casting and directing ticking me off. Now I wonder.

SA as the Discworld anon: also I'm from the Westcountry myself, and while I'd say he has a couple of accent hiccups, I can point out a few on the rest of the Fellowship too, where relevant (the ones that spring to mind are Frodo in FOTR: "Where are you going? I don't understand," to Gandalf, which completely breaks in the second sentence, and I know Aragorn has a bad one in FOTR too - was it "We cannot abandon Merry and Pippin to torment and death"? I know it was a slurring issue, same as with Wood.) It's definitely not the accent that made me find Austin difficult to fully appreciate in the role. With hindsight, I agree with others who say that he doesn't seem completely sold on the character. Maybe that - rampant racism aside - is the issue with his portrayal of Twoflower, too - he thinks he's better than precious (and outwardly simple) cinnamon roll Twoflower?
