I wonder to what extent that's a regional thing?

My brother moved to Minnesota about a year ago. I just messaged him about this but haven't heard back yet.

I'm starting to feel like "Midwest" is becoming a not-very-useful designator. I live in Indiana and I use it, but obviously Indiana =/= all of what people call the Midwest. "Midwest" can, by broad definition, include everything from Minnesota to Oklahoma to Ohio, and I think those are all culturally pretty different. It even by some definitions encompasses states I'd firmly place in the "Great Plains" category myself.

(For reference, I don't often hear people use "supper" in place of "dinner" here. I'll update if I get a response from my brother soon, I wonder if his experience is different now! Though because of his job I think he knows as many people who are also from other states as he does native Minnesotans...)
