Congratulations -- you've made it far enough for your work to be misinterpreted! I'm pretty sure that's a milestone of some sort. I think the next step is for a high school lit class to analyze it and imagine symbolism all over it. You wouldn't, by any chance, have included a river or other body of moving water in your story? Rivers always symbolize something...
