There are no actual perks to marriage depending on the character; whoever you marry gets you the same storyline really, since Concerned Ape didn't want people to pick characters to marry based on perks or any of that. :)

It's perfectly fine to ignore the marriage/relationship end of things! I'm marrying Sebastian as soon as winter ends so I can buy the marriage thingie, but spouses only do random odd jobs around the house and sometimes redecorate with random stuff. You can play just as well without one!
