25. To me, shipping Roy/Ed is a classic example of shipping two male characters out of habit. I don't see Ed as a sexual being at all, LET ALONE being at all attracted to Roy, even in the fiercest of hate!sex way. And Roy's got other problems to worry about than sexxin' up that twerp. Add to this the crazy imbalance of power and you get *bleccch* from me.

Now, Roy/Hughes I can get behind. For one, they've always related as equals.

I've said that from day one, but no one ever believes me. The people that think they 'compliment each other' so well, or belong together confuse me. But I've really just never understood how it got so popular, the 'shipping two characters out of habit' theory aside.

Of course, I don't generally say as much, because then I have to deal with people acting like I'm not a 'true' fan.

I dunno, I have the old habit of shipping whoever's yelling at each other the loudest (that's with m/f and m/m pairings), so I can see it from that angle. It's nowhere near an OTP for me, but I can see more to it than habit.

Except that Hughes is extremely devoted to his wife and child that I can't imagine him even doing the DL shit with Roy. It's not his character. I always hated that pairing for that fact.

Some people aren't going to understand why certain people like certain pairing. I didn't like RoyEd out of habit. Position in the military aside, I think they can understand each other the best out of all the characters in the show.
