That's just how American shows are. Hiatus all over the place! I don't know why none of them account for future breaks and make episodes to cover for it like the rest of the world.

Best bet is to wait until the whole season is out. I can never remember when hiatus start and end so I can never jump on in when they eventually start up again. Especially the whole wait 6 weeks just for the finals type deal that happens all the times.
