As an asexual fan who isn't very interested in sex in ships, that comment made me boggle too. A lot of fans are either not interested in the sexual aspect or it's at the very least not the biggest appeal to them.

Same. I'm asexual, too, and for me shipping is entirely about emotional relationships. I have zero interest in any sexual aspect.

As a non-asexual person for whom sex is a huge deal, I somehow manage to find black men sexy, Asian men sexy, Middle Eastern men sexy, and I find actual, Mass Effect style aliens sexy, and robots....so even saying "it's about sex" doesn't fly. They're not having sex with you in any case.

What really boggles my mind is the people who find robots and aliens sexy but somehow can't humanize other races to find them attractive. I get so disappointed in fandom. :/
