Are you really this stupid? Do you think anime would be nearly as popular if dumbfuck white people didn't think the Japanese are jealous of their superiour gaijin looks and therefore base anime characters on white people? You've never been privy to the whole "OMG WHY R ANIME CHARACTERS WHITE??" conversation?

The only reason yaoi fandom gloms onto characters so aggressively is because they tend to project their own whiteness onto the characters. It's why Tsukishima from Haikyuu!! is listening to System Of A Down and the latest Kesha track rather than some JRock, and why Kuroko and the gang eat pizza and wings instead of Japanese street food, and why they get suspiciously dropped into colleges that sound right outta the Midwest USA.

Stop playing stupid.

for another, people can wank off to and slash what they want. this criticism seems very difficult to divorce from "WHY YOU NOT SHIP WHAT I SHIP". people can be drawn to a pairing for any fucking reason.

Because you're being racist. If you can't divorce an overall fandom trend and immediately assume someone is attacking you because they're pointing out your love of white dick on white dick, or in the case of yaoi, whitewashed dick on whitewashed dick, you're either being really immature, racist, or both. If you can't see why people have an issue with this without making it about specific ships.......................

That's because a large part of fandom is US-centric as fuck and goes 'hm, a canon not set in the US? Better move it to the US ASAP!!!! Or else I might have to make an effort and do research!' Uhhh Japanese people listen to American music a LOT. Japanese people know who Kesha is, damn.

Also, Japanese people eat pizza. It's not as cheap or ubiquitous as it is in the US, but you can certainly get it if you want if you live in the city. And wings? Dude, that is staple izakaya food, you can get it ANYWHERE. The difference is you're going to be eating organs along with your wings. And probably drinking.

Anyway, more to the point, I don't know how you can expect a bunch of American teenagers to have a perfect cultural understanding of life in Japan. I mean, for all your high-horsing, YOU certainly don't have a clue.
