I think that 90% of them are just over imaginative teens who want to feel like they have a place in the world, are unique, or want to feel oppressed (otherkins are bad about comparing themselves to trans people).

It is the other 10% that is worrisome. They may have actual problems that are being ignore in favor of feeding their delusions on the internet.

This. The only otherkin I am aware of is a women in her 30s, and (no pun) has "other" serious issues in addition to this delusion.

Otherkin comparing themselves to trans people got shut down pretty fast a couple years ago. Trans people were like UH- NO. They only recently came back in full force, using the excuse that it's a "neurodivergent" thing. 9_9
