Not gonna lie; I've seen exactly this same argument applied to transsexuals, e.g. http://thefederalist.com/2015/10/26/indulging-transgender-fantasies-makes-them-worse/

Are you implying that people who think they are actually Steve Rogers are the same as transGENDER? Because that sounds like what you are implying.

Not at all, although it's possible for someone to be both. I just think that the idea of trying to fix someone should be linked to evidence they're causing harm. A lot of awful shit has come from taking people who're different or strange and treating them as a problem to be solved.

I agree with you on that, since I have known two soulbonders (the forerunners of fictionkin) and bond of them were relatively sane, with the latter one possibly having a mild form of DID going on. I don't think either of them needed "fixing" because they weren't dangerous. In their cases, they would have to decide whether they need "fixing" and pursue it themselves.

*both of them

Because in many cases, the comparisin is an apt one. Yes, there are a few legit reasons for gender reassignment. But an awful lot of this is a massive head game that is being facilitated by social scientists engaged in a large scale experiment.

...ummmm?

And that is why Otherkin is dangerous, because it really does give credence to those accusations against gay and trans* people.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-08 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
ikr? all we need is when somebody comes out as trans people go lolol oh like those people who think they're actually Pikachu

(Anonymous) 2016-04-08 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
seriously. it's so fucking harmful.
