Literally in the middle of browsing the internet, all my programs just closed themselves and the computer went into "Preparing to shut down" mode. It then took forever to shut down as it installed "updates" which I found out through several automatic restart messages were the installation of Windows 10. The whole thing took an hour and a half and just came out of nowhere. Annoying as fuck.

If my time estimates are right, it might have begun at exactly midnight, so my only suggestion is to watch your computer at that time so that if it happens you at least won't lose anything you were working on.
