I was just thinking about Billi 99.

I haven't read a lot of Concrete, but I know the art is really good.

Jay Hosler does cute & weird graphic novels about insects. Last of the Sandwalkers is about beetles.

There are a number of manga that sound up your alley. Ever read any Otomo stuff, like The Legend of Mother Sarah (apparently now out of print in English)?

And of course, my personal favorite, Yotsuba&!
