probably something like: "they have to hide their forbidden gay love because the music execs told them to because it would be bad for business"

The typical tinhat belief that being a gay singer is so omg!unacceptable that there is a vast, overarching conspiracy by "the man" - management, media etc. - to put pressure on the likes of 1D or Elijah Wood or those two dudes in Supernatural or whoever to stay closeted and that these hapless victims can only communicate their pure sekrit love for each other to the fans by clunky codes such as wearing the same shoes or looking at each other or what have you. It's hilarious, especially when there are wives and girlfriends around - next thing you know, these are paid beards having fake babies.

Like, in the unlikely event that being gay is still a career-ruiner for a star, half these dudes are only fandom famous anyway. It would barely make the entertainment news, nevermind the real news.

Tinhatters get off on the illicit nature of these alleged relationships. They LIKE their slash-pairings closeted and oppressed.

I can believe some really big A-listers being closeted (if only because there is a distinct lack of openly gay actors among the really big, successful ones), but some TV actor? Like enough people even care whether he's gay or not.

Probably the same as for the J2 tinhatters: [popular rps ship] are really a couple but forced to fake being straight by TPTB because the people in charge are homophobic/money hungry/evil. If either of the guys in [popular ship] has a girlfriend she's a beard forced on the guys by TPTB to prohibit any rumors. The girlfriend is also homophobic/money hungry/evil. If there's a baby it's because the girlfriend and/or TPTB are homophobic/money hungry/evil. The guys from [popular ship] are really tormented by all the emotional abuse they suffer due to girlfriend and/or TPTB and suffer greatly because they can't be free to show their love towards [other half of popular ship], but of course they have to hide said torment.

Depending on how far down the rabbit hole the tinhatters are there might also be some secret signals that [popular ship] give their "real" fans to let them know that they're still together and not giving up on their true love despite the pressures from homophobic/money hungry/evil girlfriends and/or TPTB.
