There's just something about this pairing that's annoying. There are lots of MTMTE pairings I hate with the fury of a thousand burning suns, but this one...this one is just subtly irritating.

It's not even the lack of canon interaction. Lots of crackships don't even exist in the same continuity but I can like them. I think it's because there's no dynamic there, at all to imagine. They don't have personalities that match or clash in any exciting or noteworthy way.

Like...lock them in a closet together for an hour and they wouldn't fight each other or fuck each other, or bond deeply, they'd just sit there and talk about the weather or some other bullshit smalltalk.

That's why it only exists as cute generic fluff pretty much. There's nothing else to draw out of them. Just ATG cuddling or fucking.

Yeah, you nailed it. I feel the same, it's just so bland.
I think even with the lack of canon material I wouldn't be as annoyed with it if it had the chemistry that fuels most of the crack ships, but there's none, I can't understand how they can be interesting.

+1 to you both. This ship drives me up a fucking wall lol. And the shippers try to make their already boring ship interesting b making preceptor and drift into bdsm and its like.... Do you care about the personalities of these characters at ALL??

Man I can't stand that pairing because I find it so boring. That might have more to do with finding Drift boring on his own actually, but the moment I try to imagine Driftceptor I start nodding off and gagging at the same time. Like, nothing about their interactions gives me that feeling of wanting to see more of them together.

But yeah I kind of just keep that mostly to myself since a lot of people do like it, ship and let ship whatever, so I'm just using this as an opportunity to express my mostly agreeing with you.

I'm just surprised Drift actually has fans now. Didn't he used to be the Poochie of Transformers?

Drift used to be the Poochie of Transformers until Roberts gave him a personality. The, uh, "nominal third in command: Your archetypal Syk-addict-turned-Decepticon-psychopath-turned-Autobot-ninja-turned flaky spiritualist," also known as the "ex-Decepticon with a thousand theories about the Knights of Cybertron, all of them wrong." (Also, I ship him with Ratchet, which does have some canon basis.)

My favorite part of this secret is that Perceptor doesn't have a thing with Brainstorm. At all. Brainstorm has a history of one-sided interests that look like microscopes, and he even admits his thing with Quark was one-sided. He hasn't been seen so much as looking at Perceptor since that came out. The lone hint of positive interaction from Perceptor toward Brainstorm was him applauding during the trial.

So ship what you want. There's no canon there either way!

Well, at least they have *something* unlike Perceptor and Drift. There were some funny moments, and up untill his crush reveal Brainstorm periodically bothers Perceptor with stuff, i.e. he wants to get Perceptor's attention. After the reveal it seems the other way around.

Also, Quark's design is based on TFA Perceptor, and THAT'S the reason Brainstorm was written to have a crush on Quark (info via Roberts' twitter), so they do have a thing however small it is.

Roberts has deliberately set something up between preceptor and brainstorm, though. At this point, its not subtext or reading too much between the lines that shippers do in hopes of some hoyay. Roberts consistently brings the gay to the table, and he's obviously doing something with brainstorm and percy.

Yeah, I don't get the Drift/Perceptor thing at all either. Apparently it's because of the one time Drift saved Percy's life alllll the way back in the All Hail Megatron series and I only read that once and forgot what happened. But I'm also not one to talk because I ship pairings that have little canon support either.

That said, I am totally in the Ratchet/Drift ship though. XD

Driftceptor suuuucks. Im glad its slowly dying. I don't really like dratchet either, but at least that ship has canon basis.
