In a 24-episode anime series with a 1-minute long opening song (and yes, lots of them are longer) that adds up to almost half an hour of your life wasted with each anime series.

When you consider that some anime have recaps of the last episode and may spend 3 minutes on their opening...well it's your life bro.

Congratulations on your wasted time bro

What can I say, some openings just aren't worth it. I'll watch them if they're good and I'm in the mood, otherwise fuck them.

Same.

I never really got into Yokai Watch's anime (dub or sub) because I can't stand the opening and ending themes. I'm in my 20's, and I guess they're just too kiddy for my taste (like it's saying "this show is for kids, you know").

I'm also too lazy to skip openings and endings, since most of the time I'll have anime playing in the background while I'm working. If I don't like the opening I'll just pass on the show altogether.

Eh, if an anime wants me to watch the opening, it's gotta be REALLY good. For example, I don't think I ever skipped Again! in FMA.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-12 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I always try to watch the opening and ending themes at least once, no matter how terrible, just because they have the potential to be thematically interesting.

Actually though if I have it on Netflix I never skip because opening/endings are my bathroom breaks lol

What if they watch it the first time, but not after that? especially if they're marathoning episodes?

(Anonymous) 2016-04-12 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
This. I watch them usually several times (I like to pick out the details) and then if I'm marathoning I'll start skipping the OP/ED unless I really, really like the song or if it's one of those series where every episode there's something different in the OP/ED.

I skip all TV/anime openings, unless they're really short, judge away.

Unless they're really short or really good, yeah. I've watched West Wing (seven seasons) three times through now, and never once skipped the opening.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-12 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't, but I rarely skip OPs or EDs because I honestly enjoy them.

All those people saying that doing something someone enjoy is a waste of time can GTFO.

I used to skip anime openings and endings, and then I realized that Baccano! has Isaac and Miria narrating the plot of the next episode at the end of each ED, and now I can never skip them for fear I might miss some secret content.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-13 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
gee. Sorry (not sorry) if I don't have the time to watch the opening [or ending] to every single episode I'm watching. I only get so much time when I AM watching something [usually at work, during lunch] that if I DON'T skip, I can't get through more than one entire episode. [if I skip, I get two. AND I still need to make my food. So Phooey on you]

(Anonymous) 2016-04-13 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
I prefer anime OPs of the 70s, 80s and 90s (go check out the OPs to Macross, Beast King Golion, Sailormoon, DBZ, Cutey Honey and Rose of Versailles). You can sing along with them. Now...not so much. I tend to skip them and find them a waste of time, especially with the current Jpop trends and bad singing.

I listen to them once and that's it.

Judge me, OP! JUDGE ME WITH THE PASSION OF A THOUSANDS SUNS!

[personal profile] ibbity 2016-04-13 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
why tho

I mean some series have really really good opening sequences and songs but some just...don't. Also, if you're watching several episodes at a sitting it can get a bit repetitive to have to sit through the same opening sequences 5 times in a row.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-13 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, depends on the opening for me. Like, I let the second OP of Osomatsu-san run every time because it was catchy as fuck (even if I didn't focus all my attention on it), but I watched the Gankutsuou OP all of once because of that fuckawful song.

So I guess if it's actually a good opening I'll watch it? But even then, idk, if I'm binging something, I'm skipping the intro. I might like it a lot even, but not enough that I want to see it every thirty minutes.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-13 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
hahaha okay. Like there are some I'd never skip, but those are the fun ones that I like to sing along to (like Ouran or NANA or One Punch). if it's another one though and if I'm marathonning, they're GONNA get skipped at least a couple of times.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-13 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The only anime opening I ever liked was the opening to Death Note. In fact, that was my favorite part of the entire show. I mostly think they are pretty horrible.
