Yeah, it was difficult to tell with the emo Sasuke memes because some of them were just jokes, but some started from people who really thought he was whiny because it was an acceptable way vent their hate. I was friends with a few.

His being whiny was also a common way to rebut people who called Sakura whiny. "You should complain about Sasuke instead, he's the whiny one, not her!"
