agreed. tidus reacts appropriately when he's given Really Bad News but then he pretty much just....moves forward anyway, and stays p. positive. I hated him when I was a 14 year old playing FFX for the first time, but when I replayed it later, he ended up being my favorite character.

speaking of final fantasy, I don't think people who call cloud whiny know what the word even means.

Cloud's definitely not whiny. A grumpypants, sure, but not whiny.

Honestly the only major FF character I'd call whiny is Seifer. 'I don't get to be the hero? No fair!'

Man, I sure am embarrassed about misspelling Tidus...

But, uh, there are people who call Cloud whiny? Huh. He always came across as frustratingly repressed to me.

There's a meme of every Final Fantasy protagonist being a whiny teenager with big hair...although that actually doesn't apply to any of them...

Ugh, yeah. I mean if anything "brooding" or even "emo" could work, but that's more in the spinoffs (he's almost a parody of himself in some of them). I am very resentful of those who treat Cloud as whiny. He... doesn't whine.
