Cab drivers getting publicly violent and weird about stripping

Ummm...what? Maybe I'm just dumb but I'm really confused by this.

Are you familiar with Uber, the rideshare service, and how the company essentially circumvents/ignores laws regarding taxi service and licensing, thereby taking business away from cab drivers who do this for their livelihood?

They're justifiably angry, however in cities like Montreal these drivers will threaten to hunt down Uber drivers, destroy their phones, and generally announce that their next protest may not be peaceful.

In my city, Edmonton, we got a less violent version where drivers disrupted city hall meetings, shouted "shame on you" in the lobby, and kept taking off their shirts. In winter.

I guess it waa actually. It was a really weird thing to see in person, and I'm pretty sure it was unplanned since all it took was one guy to set them all off. So much eye bleach needed though D:
