72 - I play both. I've been playing D&D since 2nd Edition came out. Played a number of other systems as well. We play every Friday like clockwork. I also RUN an LJ multi-verse RP. They both have their merits. The lowest form of gaming is... There is none. People enjoy what they enjoy and that's all there is to it. And as a D&D player, I would just like to say, "Get off your high horse you pretentious fuck and stop making the rest of us look bad."

Thank you. :)

Re: 72 Oh, and while we're at it.

If I wanted to be catty I'd mention what a poser this dude is for using all plastic pre-painted figures rather then metal ones they've painted themselves, or even un-painted un-sealed LEAD like they did BACK IN THE DAY WHEN THE SHIT WAS REAL!!!

Except that I've switched to the plastic pre-painted minis because they're cheap and light so I can carry more around by myself. :)

I wasn't actually comparing it directly to tabletop. I don't actually play very much tabletop, I simply used to visual to evoke the image of roleplaying since it's, uh, a little harder to snap a picture of text RP without using a specific one.

Okay, I can see that.

But you're still the guy on the far left in this xkcd comic (http://xkcd.com/359/).

Of course, I'm this guy (http://xkcd.com/386/). But I'd rather be that guy then you.

Okay. But while I'm aware that a lot of people use fandomsecrets as a soapbox to tell fandom how to behave better, there are still a lot of people like me here who simply want to vent opinions they can't tell their fandom friends face to face. It's annoying for people who play comment-logging RPs to read this on fandomsecrets, but it would actually *hurt* if I said this to my friends who enjoy this kind of RPing.

Re: OP

[identity profile] slowplay.livejournal.com 2008-03-16 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
And you thought that you would vent this in public and not get a retort?

Those other soapboxers have people comment on them as well.

Anon or not, when you express something publicly you are inviting commentary whether you want it or not.

You expressed your opinion and I've expressed mine. We simply choose to express them in different ways. That's all.

I-I really don't object to the negative replies to my secret. I was more than expecting them, really, otherwise why would I make the secret in the first place? Let alone use such extreme language when it could have been worded far more diplomatically? I'm just clarifying that I'm not really maliciously aiming to ruin anyone's fun, unless people take fandomsecrets a lot more seriously than I assumed. I think it would bother me more than the massive proliferation of comment-log RPs IN MY FANDOM OH NOOOEES is if people seriously considered quitting their favorite pastime because of a single post on f!s. Like, seriously, wtf.

(EDIT)*I think what would bother me more.

Good sir, to what address might I deliver your shipment of Internets?

(Couldn't resist the appropriate sock journal. *bows once and departs*)

Yes, I am the reason for "Slow children at play" signs.

Re: OP

...sorry, I'm having a slow day today. What huh?

Re: OP

[identity profile] slowplay.livejournal.com 2008-03-16 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure what a "sock journal" is but that's sorta partially where the journal name comes from.

I'm confused now too. :S

Re: OP

[identity profile] math-love-snark.livejournal.com 2008-03-16 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs* Aha!

Nah, see, I couldn't resist commenting to your well-played XKCD reference from this XKCD-related sock journal of mine. A sock is a journal made by a user so they can leave quasi-anonymous comments and/or make such posts without the opinions involved being linked to their true identity. (I honestly made this one more because the XKCD gimmick amused me than out of a true desire to hide, and since I'm terrible at keeping up anonymity, chances are I'll be outed from it within the month. Oh well. C'est la vie.)
