Sad thread

I'm sad y'all. My best friend hurt my feelings with her actions today (it's a long story) and my roommates + some other friends are playing dungeons and dragons downstairs, but they're like a few sessions into a big campaign so I cannot join them. I've never played before and wouldn't mind trying but would definitely feel self-conscious about learning on the go while they're on like a longtime quest that they probably take at least a little bit seriously

So that leaves me alone in my room with my sad feelings, haha. :(

Could you ask to learn in their downtime or sit in and watch to get a sense of the game so you could try joining in the next campaign?

hey, sit with them and fill in as Non player character. If they're rp orientated, then they'll love that :D!

In my experience, it is possible to join campaigns midstream, but it really depends on the DM.

Hang in there! I'm kinda in a similar situation myself haha

My best friend really hurt my feelings this week when she announced she was going on a trip somewhere with her roommate. Last month I asked if she wanted to go with me and she told me she didn't have any money, and I'm kinda in the same situation money-wise so I was like "yeah I get it, me too". So now she's making the same trip, told me about it and basically didn't invite me. I know she didn't do it out of maliciousness because she thinks I'm saving money (I am, but that's not the point) but she could have at least asked me. Shit hurts.

I'm usually the social butterfly in all my friend groups, so people tend to take me for granted and basically forget to invite me because they think I'm already busy with other social outings or they assume I already know where and when small social gatherings are taking place. It can be... trying. But yeah what I'm basically saying: don't feel sad, because there's nothing wrong with you.

Also, please ask to join the d&d group. I tried it once as a newbie and people were happy to show me the ropes and everyone had a good time despite my inexperience.
