It's not stupid to have a generous spirit and to want to give someone the benefit of the doubt. Your friend disappointed you. That's sad, but it's not through any fault of yours.

This is a good comment and you should feel good.

I agree. Giving someone the benefit of the doubt makes you a good person.

They're shitty. You're not.

yeah, the whole debate over dean's sexuality gets pretty insane. both sides can get so batshit (the people who say "dean is 100% bisexual in canon and totes in love with castiel and anyone who says otherwise is a disgusting homophobe" and the people who say "dean is obviously straight in canon and it's offensive to headcanon him as bisexual, you oppressive destihellers") that I just ignore everyone tbh. I've unfollowed people on both sides

My first thought was Dean too, especially since this secret sounds familiar and I've been seeing a fresh crop of wank over Dean's sexuality on my dash over the past couple of weeks. It's probably sad that I'm currently scrolling through the "dean is straight" tag trying to figure out which specific person is being referred to

(Anonymous) 2016-04-15 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
It's been popping up on my dash a lot, recently. As an actual bisexual, I kinda feel like I ought to be offended, except that there are actual people who are arguing the case, with all apparent seriousness, that Dean Winchester is a 100% straight heterosexual man (who just happens to be boinking his brother) and that will never not be funny to me.

That sucks. :( Sorry this happened to you. Glad you realized.

The first thing I thought when I saw this was "WordPerfect 5.1 secret!?"

(Anonymous) 2016-04-15 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'm confused.

Why is it biphobic to say that a character is straight?

(Anonymous) 2016-04-15 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
"I think Dean (assuming that's who this is about) is straight." isn't biphobic.

But when someone uses terms like "accusations" of being bisexual, they're pretty much saying that they think being bi is a bad thing, and insult that they have to be "defended" from.

Ok, thanks.
