Also, do people in other countries get super bent out of shape because their movies never feature people of other races? Are there groups of 20 year olds in India complaining about the lack of black/white/Hispanic/Native American people in their movies and all the "Indiawashing" that occurs when they remake movies from other countries?

I'm the first anon that replied and that's why I want to know. If they're making a "Western version" of it, w/e. If they're setting it in Japan and keeping her name Kusanagi, wtf?

Considering how sparse the IMDB page is, it doesn't look like much info has been released. For all we know, that is not her character name in the movie.

All but Gods of Egypt made money, even if they weren't smash hits; and I'm increasingly sure that only an increasing lack of tolerance for whitewashing amongst audiences, and the corresponding drop in revenue, will get through to Hollywood.
