There is nothing wrong with having complicated feelings for weirdly adorable feline prohibition-era jewish psycopathic assassins with OCD and no social skills whatsoever. I mean, I'm more of a Dom Drago woman myself, but Mordecai does have that whole intense/vulnerable/annoying/amazingly lethal thing going on. Not sure to what extent he counts as ace representation, but yeah, he's a bit more likely to kill someone than ... anything else at all, really.

anon beat me to it, but Icey, if you never listen to me again, listen to me now. THIS COMIC IS REQUIRED READING. It's slow to update, but that's because the artist makes every one a goddamn fucking masterpiece of art.

It's about Roaring 20's Boozerunning gansters. Also everbody is an antrho cat.



LOOK AT THE GALLERY AND ALL OF THE EXTRAS WHEN YOU ARE CAUGHT UP. There's lots of mini comics and the artist draws pretty much everybody as a human at least once. Plus the art, again, is just goddamn beautiful. Tracy may honestly be one of the best out there.

I feel like this comic isn't actually furry. Tracy said she likes making them cats just cause she can make their expressions a bit more cartoonish and get away with it. To date there's only been one canon moment where they couldn't have been humans (a character talks about how he shaved a relatives face when they were both kids, something that wouldn't make sense with human children). They are anthro cats, but it doesn't have any "animal" themes.

It's like Blacksad that way. That's a more furry work, but it uses it mostly for visual metaphor.

So, like Maus, or Donald Duck, or Omaha the Cat Dancer, or 80% of Usagi Yojimbo, or really almost any funny animal series that doesn't have a major thematic thread of, "We are different species and not human and that's a big deal."

Well I mean, the entire comic is freaking gorgeous. I'm not surprised.
Personally, I'm just excited that he's actually Jewish and keeps kosher. It's so rare in media.
