He can be boring if he is badly written, like when writers get hung up on his physical strength and think they have to deal with that as an "issue", but in the hands of writers who see his strength as something that is only there to complement his intelligence and give him enemies he has to out think instead of merely bludgeon, he can be hella interesting. The writers who forget the Clark Kent part of his character and only think about the Kal El part also tend to have boring stories. Those who write to Clark Kent having his day interrupted by having to Superman or having to Superman his way out of seemingly mundane situations sitcom-style can write some of the most hilarious and engaging stories.

I'll agree we've been on a bit of a losing streak with bad writers, who can only see the wangst and the physical challenge stuff, lately though.
