It makes me sad when people say he's boring. It just seems so cynical to me.

People like characters they can relate to or sympathize for. Superman literally has no weakness except some rare alien rock. He's like the ultimate Gary Stu, more so than other superheroes since usually they have more limitations or weakness.

The best Superman stories aren't about physical triumphs at all.

His weaknesses aren't generally physical. His morality, his sense of identity, his stubbornness, and his wanting to fit in, can all be weaknesses. His duplicity, though, that's definitely a weakness - I mean, I can absolutely understand the need for a secret identity, but it certainly doesn't give him the moral high ground and it will always be in conflict with the whole "truth, justice, and the American way" thing as well as with being journalist.

Or people can have valid reasons that have nothing to do with cynicism.
